Gemini Not Responding: How to Fix It
Gemini loads but never answers. Here is the order to work through the likely causes.

A Gemini prompt that spins indefinitely almost always has one of five causes. Work through them in this order — it goes from most to least common.
1. A stale session
Gemini keeps a long-lived session token. If it expires mid-conversation the UI will accept your prompt and then silently hang. Sign out of your Google account, close the tab, and sign back in. This resolves the majority of "spinning forever" reports.
2. An overlong conversation
Very long chats eventually exceed the context the model can process in one pass. The symptom is a conversation that worked fine for an hour and then stops responding entirely. Start a new chat and paste in only the parts you still need.
3. Browser extensions
Privacy extensions, script blockers and some password managers interfere with the streaming connection Gemini uses to deliver answers. Test in a private window with extensions off. See Gemini not loading for the full browser checklist.
4. Region or account eligibility
Some Gemini features are unavailable in certain countries, on Workspace accounts where an administrator has disabled them, and on supervised accounts. If Gemini works when signed out or in a different profile, the account is the variable.
5. An actual incident
