Gemini Advanced Subscription Billing Issue
Payment declined, subscription not activating, or features missing after paying for Gemini Advanced.
Updated August 13, 2026
Gemini Advanced is billed through the Google One subscription system, not through Gemini itself. That single fact explains most billing confusion.
Payment was taken but features did not unlock
Activation can lag the charge by a few minutes. If it has been longer, sign out and back in — entitlement is attached to the session. Then confirm at one.google.com that the plan shows as active on the same Google account you use in Gemini. Paying on one account and using another is the single most common cause of this report.
Payment declined
Check the card in Google Payments rather than in Gemini. Declines are usually an expired card, a billing address mismatch, or a bank blocking a recurring international charge. Update the card at pay.google.com and retry the subscription.
Charged after cancelling
Cancelling stops renewal at the end of the paid period; it does not refund the current one. If you were charged after the cancellation date shown in Google One, that is a refundable billing error — request the refund through Google One support, not through the Gemini app.
Wrong currency or unexpected amount
Google One prices are locked to the country of the account. Moving country does not change the price of an existing subscription. Tax is added on top of the listed price in many regions, which explains most "the amount is higher than advertised" reports.
